Postanesthesia Recovery

Besides fear of surgical recall, patients are also
frequently worried about the postanesthetic recovery
period.  Often mentioned are concerns about surgical
pain, postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), and
uncomfortable shivering.  While surgical pain is highly
subjective and needs to be tailored to each patient and
procedure, there is a large number of studies and
guidelines for treating PONV and shivering.  Here are
just a few samples to get you started.
